Vesta Kaye (Birdsong) Jones

Vesta Kaye Jones departed this world on August 26, 2023, holding the hand of her beloved husband, Kelly.

Kaye was born on January 5, 1940 to Walter Albert and Jewel Katherine Beckton Birdsong in Carlisle, Arkansas. She married Robert Kelly Jones, Sr. on July 17, 1957. Together they had four children: Kelly Diane, Kathy, Robert Kelly “Pete”, and Kevin.

Vesta Kaye lived a vibrant and joyous life. During her time on Earth, she was a force to be reckoned with. Kaye had survived breast cancer, heart attacks, and strokes before succumbing to multiple brain aneurysms. She owned her own business, while simultaneously working for the Census Bureau for thirty-two years.  She was also the president of the Business and Professional Women (BPW) for some time, as well as president of the Housing Authority here in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Kaye enjoyed reading and traveling in her free time. She took many trips over the years with her friends and her granddaughter Kristin. Kaye joined the Aberdeen First Baptist Church in her later years.

Vesta Kaye was preceded in death by her father Walter Albert, mother Jewel Katherine, brother Walter Albert “Sunny” Birdsong, Jr., and son Robert Kelly “Pete” Jones, Jr.

Kaye is survived by her husband Robert Kelly Jones, Sr. of Stuttgart, AR; daughters Kelly Diane (Gary) Bock and Kathy (Randy) Lee, both of Roe, AR; son Kevin Jones of West Little Rock, AR; grandsons Nathan Lee of Roe, AR and Brandon Lee, Joshua Walker, Madison (Laura) Walker, all of Little Rock, AR; granddaughter Kristin Wilson of Stuttgart, AR; and great grandchildren Marley, Maycee, Nathan, Selah, Lily, Tinlee, Miles and Drake. 

The family request that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to American Cancer Society or Heaven’s Helping Hands Ministries, Inc.
