Verbenia Tolbert, 88, of Redbluff, Arkansas transitioned peacefully on May 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 26, 1937, in DeWitt, Arkansas, to the late Cornelia and Reverend Lee Tolbert, Sr. Verbenia attended Redbluff School and remained a lifelong resident of the community she loved.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Redbluff, where her father, Reverend Lee Tolbert, served as the pastor. Throughout the years, she remained a faithful member.
Verbenia was a devoted mother to three children: Linda (Monroe) Anderson of Summit, Oklahoma; Ruth Rone of DeWitt, Arkansas; and Lawrence Williams of Redbluff, Arkansas. She leaves behind a legacy of love through Trenton, Mikki, Scott, Suzette, and Billy Jr., who she cherished and nurtured with unwavering love.
Verbenia was blessed with a large and adoring family, including seventeen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Valadean Bradford Tolbert of Detroit, Michigan, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Verbenia was preceded in death by her siblings Ora Lee Watson, Lee Tolbert, Jr., Willie Tolbert, Velma Bradford, Marie Hilson, and Martha Hayden.
Family was the center of Verbenia’s life. She kept the Lord first and instilled her profound love with all those around her. She cherished the moments when her family came home, often expressing her love through cooking large, hearty meals for everyone to enjoy. Her greatest gift was her ability to love unconditionally, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
