Thomas Lee Hicks, 71, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Born in Stuttgart on January 2, 1954, to the late Arthur Lee Hicks and Earnestine McCoy Simms, Thomas's life was characterized by his commitment to his family, his community, and his country.
Thomas spent his formative years in Stuttgart, attending Holman School and proudly graduating from Stuttgart High School. Shortly after, Thomas bravely served his nation in the United States Army, completing a tour of duty in Korea.
Upon returning to civilian life, Thomas established deep roots in his hometown. Thomas was the loving father of two daughters, Charmaine Smith and the late Kama Daniels. He was united in marriage to Gloria Diane Peoples in 1975, and from this union, they were blessed with three children: Rashaunda, Thomas Jr., and Iran. Professionally, Thomas held various positions but dedicated a significant portion of his working career to serving the people of Stuttgart through his employment with the City of Stuttgart.
A man of faith, Thomas was a member of Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church (ATMBC). When he felt the call to hear the word of God, ATMBC was where he would make his way.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Hicks and Earnestine McCoy Simms; his grandparents, Ben and Lillie McCoy and Johona and Verna Hicks; his daughter, Kama Daniels; and his grandchildren Domonique Mullins and TraShaun Hicks.
He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted family, including his wife, Gloria Diane Hicks of St. Joseph, MO and his children, Charmaine (Marvin) Cole of Augusta, GA, Rashaunda Hicks of Katy, TX, Thomas Hicks, Jr. and Iran Hicks, both of St. Joseph, MO.
Thomas is also survived by his siblings: brothers Lamonte (Lenora) McCoy and Lawrence (Cynthia) McCoy, both of Stuttgart, AR, Theodore Hicks, Arther Hicks, and Donald Hicks, all of TX, and Arthur Hicks of Pine Bluff, AR; and sisters Joyce Hicks, Edwalyn Johnson, and Felicia Washington, all of Stuttgart, AR, Lori McCoy of Madison, AL, and Verna Hicks of TX.
He will be dearly missed by a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to acknowledge his long-time special friends, Doug Criner, Joe Alexander, Russell Alexander, Booker T. Johnson, Willie B. Simmons, and Mrs. Pam, whose friendship he valued deeply.
Thomas Lee Hicks will be remembered for his laughter, his strength, and his unwavering love for family and friends. His legacy of service, faith, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.
