Thirlee Mitchell Obituary

Thirlee Mitchell was born to Thomas and Margaret Hall Mitchell on March 14, 1942. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Roe, Arkansas, where he faithfully held the position of Deacon.

Affectionately known as Sonny, Thirlee attended G.W. Carver in Clarendon, Arkansas, Class of 1961. He then pursued a career in farming for many years, which he loved dearly. In addition, he was a former employee of Riceland Foods, Inc.

Thirlee was united in holy matrimony to Pearlene Dukes on November 16, 1962. To this union, three children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Margaret Mitchell, great-grandson Parker Kenyon Mitchell, sister Billar Jean Mitchell, and a special brother Stanley Garrison.  

Thirlee leaves to cherish his memory his loving and much devoted wife Pearlene Mitchell; two daughters Sharon Mitchell (Jessie) Powell and Tracy (Elgin) Perry, both of Clarendon, AR; one son Gregory Todd Mitchell (special friend LaTashia Artis), both of Clarendon, AR; twelve grandchildren Issac Smith, Amanda Smith, Lilee Smith (Edward) Johnson, William Perry, Mariah Perry, Michael Perry, TyBreanna Mitchell, LaMarian Luckett, Tiara Mitchell, Tamia Mitchell, Tristan Hampton, and  KJ Reed; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister Mildred (Lonzell) Walker of Little Rock, AR; two brothers-in-law Houston (Mildred) Dukes, Jr. of Clarendon, AR and Bobby Dukes of Little Rock, AR; two sisters-in-law Betty Yates of Clarendon, AR and Mary (Booker) Johnson of Stuttgart, AR;  two nieces Tranett (Derrick) Brooks and Shelly Walker (Varnell) Norman, both of Little Rock, AR; a special niece Shelly Owens of Irving, TX; a special cousin Della Bryd of St. Louis, MO; special friends of the family Roy, Kenny, and Kortney Gray and the Gray family of Roe, AR; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
