Stephen Clark Holmes, Sr.

Stephen Clark Holmes, Sr. was born on April 21, 1956 to the late Mr. Alfred ‘Bud’ Holmes and Mrs. Margeret Holmes Holt in Little Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life on January 25, 2020.

He attended Stuttgart High School and was always spoken of in high regard from family and friends. He retired from Riceland Foods, where he worked with his older brother, Larry, for over 20 years. Stephen was known among family for being creative with his cars and having a unique form of logic. For those that did not know, he created the ‘push button’ start on cars years before that was a thing, and he also was ‘UBER’ within many cities in the state of Arkansas before that was popular. The family often teased Stephen on his car creations and his funny antics he would get himself into over the years, and there were quite a few.

Stephen was very creative and very much loved by his family and friends, not to mention his generous nature. He was always helping friends or associates, if they needed help if he was able. He was so much like our mother; they had a kind spirit.  We will miss him and still look for him to pop up somewhere in Pine Bluff or Little Rock to visit his sisters or brothers. Regardless of when he would visit, he was always welcomed and no one was more excited to see him than his nieces and nephews. What we wouldn’t give to still have him here with us, but Jehovah God knew when to bring him home, it was time. He no longer has to fight; he is fully renewed and with other loved ones that preceded him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred ‘Bud’ Holmes and Margeret Holmes Holt, brothers Isaac Miller, Jr. and Alfred Holmes, Jr., and sister Charlotte Linda Holmes-Chambers. Stephen leaves behind a legacy of love, family loyalty and many good memories.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children Trimeka (Wendell) Johnson Hardimon, Stephanie Holmes, Stephen Holmes, Jr., Tiffany Avery, Brianna Holmes, and Alexis Walker; brothers Larry Holmes and Ricky (Wanda) Holmes; sisters Erma (LeeVell) Henderson and Debra A. Holmes; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many more family and friends.
