Richard Owens, Sr. Obituary

Richard ‘Rerun” Owens, Sr. gained his heavenly wings on March 7, 2021 at DeWitt City Hospital. He was born on June 28, 1969 to Elbert Bronson, Jr. and the late Armella L. Wright. He was later raised by his grandparents Bernice Mariner and the late Elbert and Blanchie Bronson, with the aid of his aunts Mary, Patricia, Carolyn, Marlene, and Darlene Bronson.

Richard confessed in Christ at an early age under the leadership of E.R. Gain at First Baptist Church in DeWitt, Arkansas.

He was a graduate of DeWitt High School, Class of 1987. After graduating, he joined the work society, in which he worked for several companies such as Producers Rice Mill, Mark Hargrove, and DeWitt Fire Department. In 2007, his health began to decline resulting in him leaving Producers Rice Mill.

Richard’s passion was being out in nature. Anything that dealt with him being outside, he was right there. He loved fishing, hunting, being at the bait shop with his Dad, and cooking, so that he could tease everyone else about their food.

He was preceded in death by his mother Armella Wright, brother Lyndell Preston, and grandparents Elbert Bronson, Sr., Blanchie Bronson, and Bernice Mariner.

Richard leaves to cherish his memories his father Elbert (Lille) Bronson; wife of thirteen years Jennifer Owens; one son Richard ‘RJ’ Owens; three stepdaughters Shytoyerio (Nathaniel) Hunt, Stephanie (Nick) Johnson, and Alysha (Raymond) Johnson; three stepsons Quintin Hunt, Lazavier Hunt, and Lequante Hunt; five grandchildren Nathaniel Ticey, Jr., Jaden Ticey, A’mariyah Hunt, Jordon Hunt, and Jesiah Hunt; four sisters Sandra Bradon, Zeronda Johnson, Jacquelyn Johnson, and Tammi Bronson; four brothers Ronald Brown, Ronald Lewis, Kevin Bronson, and Michael (Janet) Jenkins; special cousins who were like brothers and sisters Joshua Bronson, Nicole Bronson, Nikki Bronson, and Jennifer Fitzpatrick; longtime friends Glen (Crystal) Fisher, Mark (Joyce) Hargrove, Debbie (Scott) Bowlins, and Walter (Leslie) Gibson; his fellow brotherhood DeWitt Fire Department; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
