Myra Lee Fowler Mullins was born September 27, 1939 in Van, Arkansas to the union of Charlie Fowler, Sr. and Eva Butler Fowler. She departed this life on March 6, 2023 in the comfort of her own home.
After graduating from Immanuel High School in Almyra, Arkansas, she relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. Myra was employed with Fruin-Colnon Construction Company for thirty-five years in St. Louis. She later worked as a clerk in the emergency room at the DeWitt Hospital in DeWitt, Arkansas.
At an early age, Myra accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with Hill Chapel A.M.E Church in Van, Arkansas. After moving back to Arkansas in 2002, she joined Nichols Chapel A.M.E. Church in DeWitt, Arkansas. When the church closed, she united to Bethel A.M.E Church in Gillett, Arkansas, under the leadership of Rev. Glory A. Richardson.
Myra and Pastor Odessa Cash initiated the ‘Back to School’ program, where they gave school supplies and backpacks to 1st through 12th grade students.
She was active in regular church school, a tither, head steward, and worked in the kitchen as a server.
Myra loved to bowl and was in a bowling league. She also loved taking care of her indoor and outdoor flowers. During the Christmas holidays, she enjoyed decorating her home and hanging outdoor lights.
She was preceded in death by her son Keith Leon Fowler; parents Charlie and Eva Fowler; brothers Charlie Fowler, Jr. and Othelous Fowler; and sisters Doris Fowler and Evelyn Fowler Chance.
Myra leaves to cherish her many fond memories her son Vincent Fowler of St. Louis, Missouri; granddaughter Donita (Johnny) Savannah of O’Fallon, Missouri; great granddaughter Auriel Michelle Savannah of O’Fallon, Missouri; sisters Eva Whitney of Florissant, Missouri, Celestine Wright of DeWitt, Arkansas, and Deborah Coleman of Glenn Heights, Texas; brothers Herman (Idell) Fowler, Sr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Terry (Angela) Fowler, Sr. of Arlington, Texas; one aunt Alice Butler of Stuttgart, Arkansas; a play son Curtis Ransom of DeWitt, AR; along with hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins (sister) and friends.
