Melvin Tolliver was born May 6, 1957. He was the fifth child born to the late Rosie Lee Holt-Tolliver and Lincoln D. Tolliver in Almyra, Arkansas. He departed this life on the evening of Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Maple Health Care Nursing Home in Hazen, Arkansas.
He attended Immanuel School in Almyra, Arkansas. He professed his life in Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ in Casscoe, Arkansas.
In 1977, he was united in holy matrimony to Linda Reed (Batemon), and to this union three children were born. During their marriage, they helped raise five nieces and nephews as their own.
Melvin held several jobs. His love and passion was carpentry, and he was often seen building homes and businesses.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rosie Lee and Lincoln D. Tolliver, three sons Melvin Tolliver, Jr., LynnEdward Tolliver and Kormaine Tolliver, and two sisters Mildred Bones and Tanguline Tolliver.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memories one son Greg Simmons of Stuttgart, AR; five children he helped raise Constance (Kenny) Burlison of Humphrey, AR, Dewayne (Erin) Sanders of Lawrence, KS, Troy Sanders and Michelle Givens, both of Stuttgart, AR and Terrica Sanders of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren Jordan, Kenzie, and Alexis, all of Stuttgart, AR; seven brothers Milton Bones, Keith Tolliver, Patrick Tolliver, Sr. and Randall Tolliver, all of Little Rock, AR, Lincoln Tolliver of Eldorado, AR, Antonio Tolliver of Kansas City, MO, and Kenneth Tolliver of Stuttgart, AR; one sister Linda Tolliver of Little Rock, AR; two uncles Willie Holt and Freddie Holt, both of Stuttgart, AR; one aunt Hattie Holt of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to mourn his passing.
