Melvin Gene Jemerson, Sr. was born on June 8, 1947 in the Immanuel Community near Almyra, Arkansas to the late John Henry Jemerson and Lucy Garrison Jemerson. Shortly after graduating from Immanuel High School in 1965, he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he spent most of his adult life working for GTE. That is where he also met and married Louise Mabry. He accepted Jesus Christ and joined Providence Baptist Church at an early age and continued his spiritual growth there after he returned to Arkansas.
Melvin departed this life on March 23, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lucy and his brother Vernon Garrison.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons Kevin Mabry (Darlene) of Chicago, Illinois and Melvin Jemerson, Jr. (Karmesia) of Conway, Arkansas; three brothers Freddie Jemerson (Jeanette) of Victorville, California, Carl Jemerson (Bettye) of St. Charles, Missouri, and Raymond Jemerson (Monica) of Stuttgart, Arkansas; three sisters Frankie Owens of Casscoe, Arkansas, Lela Gamble (Lloyd) and Gracie Jemerson, both of Immanuel, Arkansas; five grandchildren Dejiah, Justin, Trent, Kaitlyn, and Ethan; one uncle O.B. Jemerson of Stuttgart, Arkansas; a dear friend Celestine Wright, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
