Mary Lois Johnon-Stigger was born December 31, 1937 to the late Robert Johnson and Francis Izora Wilder in Ethel, Arkansas. She departed this earthly life on April 27, 2023 to be with her Heavenly Father.
She attended Holman High School in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Lois was employed by Riceland Foods until her retirement. She then worked as a personal caregiver, a job she loved dearly. She later worked as a cook for Harold Ives Duck Club.
Mary Lois joined Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend J.C. Holmes and later joined Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Bobby Brasfield. She then transferred her membership to Victors’ Empowerment Center, under the leadership of Apostle Victor E. Johnson, where she remained a faithful, working member until her health declined.
Mary Lois met and married Charlie Lee Ross, and to this union one daughter, Phyllis Ann Ross, was born. She later met and married Clarence Bass, and to this union one son, Roderick Kerry Bass, was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Johnson and Izora Wilder, son Torrie Heard, grandparents, sisters Shirley Scaife and Dorothy Matlock, and brother Odis Lloyd, Jr.
Mary Lois leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Phyllis Ross of Sherwood, AR; son Roderick Bass of Taylor, TX; grandchildren Corrie (LaShaun) Wiley of Sherwood, AR, Kenisha Kirkendall of Harker Heights, TX, Tiffane Ross of Jacksonville, AR, Deon (Lanie) Bass of Jacksonville, FL, Desiree (Darrell) Moore and Izora Bass, both of Harker Heights, TX, and LaFarrah Strickland of Atlanta, GA; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister JoAnne (Larry) Loudermilk of Stuttgart, AR; her cousin who was like a sister Emma Fairow of Stuttgart, AR; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who loved her dearly.
