Marvin London Obituary

Marvin London, 87, of Dewitt, Arkansas passed from this life to eternity on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Born September 2, 1932 in Ethel, Arkansas, Marvin was the sixth child of Robert E. London, Sr. and Marie Scruggs London. He shared a childhood with five brothers and two sisters on the London family farm “in the delta of Arkansas”. As a young man, Marvin enlisted in the military for five years and received an honorable discharge. After the military experience, he became employed at Stevenson Ford Motor Company in Dewitt, Arkansas where he worked for 20 years. After his retirement, he established a successful car wash and detailing business; he then spent his leisure time riding, grooming, and caring for his horses.

Marvin married Mattie Phillips in 1965, and they have shared 54 years of marriage. They enjoyed each other and lived a quiet life together. Like his parents, Marvin and Mattie spent a lot of time at home. Marvin came from a strong religious family where deference to God and church attendance was expected.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Marion, Ernest, Robert, Jr., and sister Rosemary. He leaves to cherish his life and memories his beloved wife Mattie; daughter Billie London of Detroit, MI; his siblings Dorothy London Ross of Sacramento, CA, Harlan of Syracuse, NY, and Mel of Milwaukee, WI; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will hold warm memories of him.
