MaeBelle C. Lewis was born April 11, 1937 to the late Buccie Cline, Sr. and Lorraine Phillips Cline in Humphrey, Arkansas. She departed this life on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family.
On April 14, 1960, she was united in holy matrimony to Robert C. Lewis. And to this union, nine children were born.
MaeBelle confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church in Humphrey, under the leadership of Reverend I.J. Ross. She remained a faithful member until her health failed her, under the leadership of Revered Arthur Hughes.
She attended Rosenwald High School in Humphrey. MaeBelle worked as a private sitter in home health, as well as transported clients for the Area Agency on Aging. Later in life, she owned her own business, Cline’s Corner Soul Food Restaurant, originating in Stuttgart and then relocated to Humphrey.
MaeBelle was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys fan. You would often see her in Converse sneakers and Razorbacks or Cowboys paraphernalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents Buccie and Lorraine Cline, five sisters Dalphine Edwards, Glendora Robinson, Maxine Reed, Virginia Cline, and Lillrie McSwain, three brothers L.C. Strickland, Cleophus Cline, and John Cline, Sr., and one son Herman C. “Bimp” Lewis.
MaeBelle leaves to cherish her memories six daughters Doris Tucker and Martha Butler, both of Humphrey, AR, Pamela (David) Colen of Flint, MI, Felicia Lewis (Alan Nolen) of Memphis, TN, DeFaria (DeCarlo) Treadwell of Pine Bluff, AR, and TeMeka Lewis of Little Rock, AR; four sons Marvin (Barbara) Lewis, Ricky (Tracy) Lewis, Leonard (Tiffany) Reed, all of Stuttgart, AR, and Mark Sr. (Tela) Spaight of Little Rock, AR; one sister Juanita Levingston of Oakland, CA; four brothers Buccie (Gwen) Cline, Jr., Sylvester Cline, both of Humphrey, AR, L.B. (Liz) Strickland and Calvin Cline, both of Pine Bluff, AR; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; special neighbors Cleveland and Annie Hatch of Humphrey, AR; and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
