Lavarange Davis-Hankins was born on November 2, 1948 to the proud parents George Jeffery, Sr. and Girstine Toney Jeffery. She was the seventh biological child born to this union. Lavarange departed this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Cavalier Health Care under Affinity Hospice Care in England, Arkansas.
She was a fun child. She followed her sister Betty’s footsteps, and she too decided to seek and receive God’s gift of the Holy Spirit at an early age. Lavarange grew in her faith in Jesus and became a mighty servant of God. She loved to sing about His goodness and praised Him mightily. Lavarange had the kindness spirit. She worked tirelessly to please God and always put others before herself.
Lavarange graduate from Holman High School, Class of 1966. She attended Phillips Community College in Helena, Arkansas. She studied Health Care and was later employed by the Stuttgart Regional Hospital. Lavarange worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, as well as a Nurse Assistant for several years. Upon retiring from the hospital, she became a private caregiver for many in the surrounding area.
Her most enjoyable hobby was fishing. She also loved bowling and putting together those huge sized jigsaw puzzles with thousands of pieces.
Lavarange was united in holy matrimony to Samie Lee Hankins on December 11, 2015. They enjoyed each other’s company and loved to travel together.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents; three brothers George Jeffery, Jr., Arthur Holt, and Willie Holt; and six sisters Jewel Wofford, Juanita Owens, Betty Louise Watkins, Leatha Mae Holt-Peoples, Rosie Lee Holt-Tolliver, and Earnestine Holt.
The precious memories of Lavarange will forever be cherished by her beloved husband Samie Lee Hankins; four brothers Pastor Fredrick (Barbara) Jeffery, Larry (Emma) Jeffery, Andre’ (Tammie) Jeffery, and Freddie Holt; and eight sisters Demetrice Guydon, Mary Ann Wofford, Lillie Jeffery, Deborah (Paul) Brown, Rose (Elliott) Stovall, Glenda Hall, Pearl St. Clair, and Hattie B. Holt.
Although Lavarange had no biological children, she had several Godsons and Goddaughters. She loved all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She had a multitude of cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
