LaTanya Ann Applewhite was born September 13, 1981 to Sheila Applewhite-Wyatt and the late Andrew ‘Tree’ Smith in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She transitioned this life on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in Little Rock, Arkansas where she and her family resided.
She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend G.H. Wade. She received her education at Stuttgart High School, where she graduated with the Class of 2000. LaTanya later became a Certified Nurse Aid, doing what she loved - helping others. She was enrolled to begin studying for a medical assistant certification. LaTanya was a great cook and loved to share that with family.
LaTanya was a mother to three children Laenarra Applewhite (22), Jai Quon Wiley (20), and Larrika Hill (17). She was also a grandmother to one KaWan Wiley (2).
She was preceded in death by her father Andrew ‘Tree’ Smith, stepfather Willie Wyatt, grandmother Willie Mae Hughes, grandfather Henry Smith, Sr., uncles Charles Smith and Earl Smith, and aunt Shirley Clinton-Glover.
LaTanya leaves to cherish her sweet memories her children Laenarra Applewhite, Jai Quon Wiley, and Larrika Hill, all of Little Rock, AR; one grandson KaWan Wiley of Little Rock, AR; grandfather Carl Hughes (Lyndell) of Humphrey, AR; grandmother Roberta Smith of Stuttgart, AR; mother Sheila Applewhite-Wyatt of Stuttgart, AR; sisters Andrea Smith (Cedrick) of McKinney, TX and Teanisha Applewhite (Donald) of Stuttgart, AR; brothers Darrodrick Applewhite (Kimberly) of Little Rock, AR and Demarcus Applewhite (Akeylia) of Jacksonville, AR; aunt Jacqueline Phillips of Stuttgart, AR; uncles Pastor Terry Hughes (Cherie) and Pastor Gregory Hughes, both of Little Rock, AR and Michael Hughes (Jacqueline) of Hazen, AR; a special friend Chris Martin of Little Rock, AR; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
