L.C. Smith was born to the late Tommie and Lillian Smith on February 9, 1936 in Arkansas County, Arkansas. He departed this life on Friday, August 4, 2023.
He attended Immanuel School in Almyra, Arkansas. L.C.’s best achievement in his life was when he married Bertha M. Fitzpatrick on September 9, 1958. And to this union, four children were born: Lenord Carroll Smith, Deborah Smith, Ricky Smith, and Ken Smith.
L.C. worked on the farm, then began working for Carter Building Company in DeWitt, Arkansas. In 1960, he went on his own as a carpenter, which was one of his greatest accomplishments. L.C. strived to be the best carpenter he could be. In addition, he started a rental business over 30 plus years ago.
Some of his hobbies growing up were hunting, fishing, and making whatnots to go on the walls, like half-moons. L.C. served on the DeWitt City Nursing Home Board during 1987, under the Vivian Meins administration. On April 26, 2023 he confessed his hope in Christ at this nursing home.
L.C. was preceded in death by his parents Tommie and Lillian Smith, sons Lenord Carroll Smith and Ken Smith, brothers Tommie Lee Smith, Georgia Lee Smith, Johnny Smith, Golden Smith, Albert Smith, Eddie Smith, and King Solomon Smith, sisters Susie Smith and Emma Lene Smith, and aunts Lenia Piggie and Lee Etha Bradford.
L.C. leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of sixty-four years Bertha M. Smith of DeWitt, AR; daughter Deborah L. Smith-Woods of DeWitt, AR; son Ricky M. Smith of DeWitt, AR; daughters-in-law Helen Smith and Betty Joyce Smith, both of DeWitt, AR; sister Laura Weems of Detroit, MI; brother Mike (M.C.)
