Mother Katherine Gaither Stigger was born February 10, 1927 to the late Reverend Thomas Isaac “T.I.” and Sarah Chambers Gaither in Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas.
She attended Immanuel High School in Almyra, Arkansas and later received her GED in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at an early age and was united with St. Olive Baptist Church in Dewitt, Arkansas under the patriot Reverend M.L. Bradley.
She united in Holy matrimony to Willie Stigger, Sr. To this union one son was born. Mother Katherine Stigger was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family dearly and was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was a faithful and devoted worker in the church where she served.
In later years, she united with Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorialship of Pastor Gilbert Byrd, Jr. In the ministry, she served in several capacities. Mother Stigger remained active in ministry until her health failed.
She was a past employee of the Arkansas Department of Health, Stuttgart Regional Medical Center, Rose Care Center of Stuttgart, and Walmart, all located in Stuttgart, Arkansas. After many years of faithful employment, she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Willie Stigger, Sr; five sisters Mae Lene King, Ersalene Hodges, Hazel Callahan, Rosezine Brown, and Betty Austin; one niece Joyce Yvonne Gaither Racy; and her precious grandson Terrance Lamont Stigger.
Mother Katherine Stigger leaves to cherish her loving memory: three sons E.D. Phillips of San Francisco, CA, Roy (Ceolia) Jeffery of Kansas City, MO and Willie Jr. (Priscilla) Stigger of Stuttgart, AR; one sister Dessie Moore of Kansas City, MO; one brother Earnett “T.C.” (Karen) Gaither of Stuttgart, AR, her grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was loved and will truly be missed.
