Jocelyn Marie ("JaJa") Owens

Jocelyn Marie Owens was born on August 18, 1986 to Rose Marie Owens and Gregory Oates, Sr. at Stuttgart Memorial Hospital in Stuttgart, Arkansas.

She accepted Christ and believed in the Lord. She joined Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart. Jocelyn was never a stranger at any church. She also fellowshipped at First Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Roe, Arkansas.

Jocelyn was a graduate of Stuttgart High School, Class of 2005. She loved her classmates.

She was employed by Walmart. Jocelyn enjoyed working in the Electronics department, because she was a people-person and never met a stranger.  

Affectionately known as ‘JaJa’, she cherished her time spent with her family. She was especially fond of Ka’Leiace, Legend, and Casey, always having some candy and chips in her bag like her Momma. If she couldn’t get to them, you better believe she would FaceTime them.

Jocelyn enjoyed playing her games and talking on the phone, as well as spending time with her boyfriend Anthony Appleton. He was the love of her life.

She transitioned from this life in the evening hours on Monday, September 19, 2022 in her home.

Jocelyn was preceded in death by her parents Rose Owens and Gregory Oates, Sr., grandparents Johnnie and Pat Owens and August and Orange Oates, great-grandparents Dallas and Leora Owens, sister Jennifer Oates, aunt Doris Owens, uncles Hubert Owens and Mack L. Owens, and cousin Cory Owens.

Jocelyn leaves to cherish her wonderful memories her loving cousin/sister Yolanda (Garry) Guydon; devoted brother Gregory Oates, Jr.; loving cousins who were like her nieces and nephews Ka’Leiace, Legend, Rocelyn, RicQuana, Rodney, LeAndre’, Davion, and RicQuez; nephew Gregory “Trace” Oates; aunts and uncles Audrey (Darrell) Fitzpatrick, Shelia Brown, Rosemary Bryant, Legirtha (Dennis) Adams, Debra (Donald) Robinson, Jacqueline Walls, Anthony “August” Oates, Rickey (Laura) Oates, Darrell (Loretta) Oates, Percil (Rebecca) Owens, Wilbert (Barbara) Owens, Dallas Owens, Jr., Damon Oates, Gary Owens, Carol Vaughn, and Polly Owens; special cousins David Burks, Howard Burks, Jr., Camera Vaughn, and Carrison Vaughn; her ‘aces’ Tammy Wiley, Katrina Gaither, and Derek Mason; a special friend Anthony Appleton; and numerous other relatives and friends.

                                             JaJa was loved by many and will be missed by plenty.
