Jessie Lawrence Benjamin was born November 15, 1957 to the late James Lawrence Benjamin and Sarah Brown Johnson in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He departed this life on June 23, 2022 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Jessie, also known as “Jess L” by his family and friends, was married to the late Aretha Mae McCastle-Benjamin, whom he loved with all his heart.
He dedicated his time to ensure that his tithes and offerings were paid to New Bethel A.M.E. Church every Sunday.
Jess L’s career was spent mostly at Riceland Foods in Stuttgart, where he was blessed to retire from. Jess L was a devoted member of the Clubhouse in Stuttgart, where he had many friends, colleagues, and associates.
He enjoyed nature-filled activities, such as fishing, hunting, and riding his four-wheeler around in the woods and the mud.
Jessie was preceded in death by his parents James Lawrence Benjamin and Sarah Brown Johnson, his four brothers Charles Rhodell Johnson, Arties Johnson, Jr., Calvin Johnson, and Elmer Johnson, his two sisters Helen Johnson-Reams and Queen Ester Johnson-Hicks, and also his wife Aretha Mae McCastle-Benjamin.
Jessie leaves to cherish his love and memories: step-children Jimmy McCastle, Delois Minor, Russell Alexander, Jr., and Vera McCastle, all of Stuttgart, AR; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a special aunt Lorene Ellis of Little Rock, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
