Jerid Dewayne Scales

Jerid Dewayne Scales was born August 4, 1969 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to the late John L. Scales and Barbara J. Flournoy Scales-Dedrick. He transitioned his life on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas surrounded by his family.

He accepted Jesus as his savior and united with the United Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor James Walton.

Jerid graduated from Northwestern Community High School in Flint, Michigan, Class of 1987. He completed the Michigan Occupational Safety and Administration Program in Lansing, Michigan, where he qualified to be an Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor. He also worked as a welder.  Jerid’s last employment was at Tyson Food in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Jerid was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone. There never has been a person, whoever came into Jerid’s life, that he wouldn’t consider as a friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition, he enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, playing dominos, and working on cars. He loved all sports, including being one of the biggest fans of the New England Patriots.

He was preceded in death by his parents John L. Scales and Barbara Flournoy Scales-Dedrick; stepfather Larance Dedrick; grandparents Richard and Maeanna Flournoy, and Elmo and Ruth Scales; four uncles Richard Flournoy, Lee Arthur Flournoy, Othel Scales, and Windell Scales; two aunts Gloria Flournoy-Releford and Lois Scales Nichols-Lawrence; and one cousin Roderick Flournoy.

Jerid leaves to cherish his memory five beautiful daughters who were his heart Jerica (Bobby) Scales of Pine Bluff, AR, Sharrica Scales of Mesquite TX,  Aklia Frazier of Niagara Falls, NY, Diamond Scales of Lansing, MI, and Maya Lamrock of Montrose, MI; one loving son Lonnie (Briasia) Frazier of Lansing, MI; three amazing brothers John (Toni) L. Scales of Chula Vista, CA, Darryl Kirk of Stuttgart, AR, and Jonathan Scales of Stuttgart AR; one devoted uncle Elder Theodies (Orlease) Flournoy of Lexington, MS; five sweet aunts Charline Tidwell of Pine Bluff, AR, Estella Scales-Johnson of Carlisle, AR, Nora (Freddie) Scales Anderson of Sherwood, AR, Shirley Flournoy of Jonesboro, AR, and Izella Flournoy of Stuttgart, AR; ten grandchildren Trae Corthion, Dalan Murry, McKenzie Murry, Annalia Frazier, Conner Colbert, Jayce Roby, Kamyla Roby, Ahalonna Frazier, A’kiera Frazier and A’veah Frazier; two stepsisters Lawanda Osborn and LaShanda Osborn, both of Flint, MI; two stepbrothers Larance Lee and Larry Osborn, both of Flint, MI; a special friend Leslie Best; longtime friends Nile Hawthorne, Thomas Steen, and Anthony Frazier, all of Flint, MI; and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephew, cousins, and friends including Natalie Fells-Miller and Anita Frazier.
