A Time to Be Born
On February 26, 1945 a baby girl by the name of Frankie Lee McDowell was born to the late Leola Watts and Frank McDowell in the small town of Wabbaseka, Arkansas.
A Time to Learn
Frankie attended Coleman School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where she received her education.
A Time to Work
Frankie worked at Producers Rice Mill and went on to work at the Best Western Hotel, where she was employed until she retired. After retirement, she went home to be a full-time child caregiver.
A Time to Love
Frankie loved everyone who crossed her path along her life’s journey. Affectionately known as Granny, her grandchildren were dear to her heart. She enjoyed watching her western television shows and going to Blues Fest with her family and friends. She loved to cook, listen and dance to music, and most of all play spades. Frankie was a part of the village that reared many children. In addition, she was known as the ‘pop lady’ in the neighborhood, selling her canned sodas and snacks. One would often see her sitting on her porch enjoying the view.
A Time to Depart
Frankie departed this life on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in the comfort of her home. Among the great cloud of witnesses awaiting her arrival will be her forementioned parents, one daughter Shirley Harris, two great grandsons Da’marcus Boston, Jr. and Ja’Kylen Jones, and two great granddaughters Kaylee Martin and Chyler Grace.
A Time to be Remembered
Though she is no longer with us in body, her irreplaceable presence will be missed by those she leaves to cherish her memories: three sons Leroy (Theresa) Johnson of Little Rock, AR, David (Sonja) Johnson of Pine Bluff, AR, and Kenny (Carolyn) Johnson of Milwaukee, WI; three daughters Betty Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, and Tammie (Charles) Moore, all of Stuttgart, AR; one bonus son Lamont James of Stuttgart, AR; one half brother James Robinson of Brooklyn, NY; one special niece Sheila Offord-Cherry of Fort Worth, TX; forty-four grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
SHE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY MANY!
