Eddie H. Smith, Sr. was born to Tommie and Lillian Smith on March 9, 1938 in Casscoe, Arkansas. He departed this life in the evening hours on February 2, 2021 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He attended Immanuel High School in Almyra, Arkansas. Eddie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age, under the leadership of Reverend Bruntley. The roots of his faith were grounded in Saint Olive M.B. Church, located at the DeWitt Loop in rural DeWitt, Arkansas. He remained a faithful member under the leadership of Reverend W.H. McFadden.
Eddie worked at Riceland Foods for 38 years and retired in 2000. He had a passion for working on cars and lawn mowers, as well as painting cars. He had a love for his dogs. In addition, he enjoyed playing the guitar. Eddie was an incredible provider, with a great sense of humor.
On July 26, 1963, he married his best friend and the love of his life Odella May Smith. To this union, six beautiful children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tommie and Lillian Smith, son Eddie Smith, Jr., brothers Tommie Lee, Georgia Lee, Johnny, Golden, and Albert, and sisters Susie Mae and Emma Lene.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 57 years Odella M. Smith; three daughters Angela M. Smith, Valarie R. (Eric) Elders and Vernica L. (Roderick) Brown; two sons Michael L. (Sha) Smith and Marco D. Smith; seventeen grandchildren Troy, Keith, Marcus, Terry, Recardo, Latreasa, Talisha, Diamond, David, Kynsha, Kendrick, Kendall, Kylan, Adreana, McKenleigh, DeAnthony, and Hope; a host of great grandchildren; brothers M.C. Smith, L.C. (Bertha) Smith, and King K.S. (Gladys) Smith; sister Laura Weems; a special God-daughter Sharon D. Roberts; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
