Deacon Douglas “Doug” Darrough was born May 12, 1950, in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Arthur and Carrie Darrough. Douglas departed this life on Friday, December 20, 2024.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Benton Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder C.L. Benton. Later in years it became the Holy Benton Temple COGIC under the leadership of Elder Lawrence O’Neal.
Doug was a graduate of the Holman High School “Class of 1968”. Doug was employed at the Grand Prairie Center and the Experiment Station of Stuttgart for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Dodge Store and Maple Street (under the Tree). Doug had many friends; he was a loving person whose smile would light up a room.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Darrough and mother Carrie Bullock Darrough; paternal grandparents Thomas and Willie Mae Darrough; maternal grandparents Saint Field and Gertrude Bullock; three aunts Teresa Bullock Owens, Lela Graham, and Veola Armstrong; three uncles Leon Bullock, Saint Field, Jr. and Otis Owens; and a cousin James Darrough.
Doug leaves to cherish his memories two sisters Mildred Hayden Jones and Vanessa Hayden Jordan, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends to mourn his earthly departure.
