Donna J. Ice was born on January 7, 1967 to Bernard Smith and Erma Lee Ice in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She departed this life in the morning hours on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was a graduate of Stuttgart High School, Class of 1985. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, specializing in Business Administration. After graduation, Donna relocated to McComb and Jackson in Mississippi, where she was employed in management at Walmart for over 23 years. She then moved back to Arkansas and resumed her career with Walmart. Later she became a manager at Family Dollar in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
During her childhood, Donna attended Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She later became a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer, Arkansas under the leadership of Pastor Brian K. Dodson.
She was a sports fanatic, a loyal Dallas Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks fan. Her ‘pride and joy’ was her son Matthew. She played a vital role in introducing him to all sports, especially teaching him how to play football and baseball. Donna was also a disciplinarian and ensured that Matthew concentrated on his studies, as well as sports. To her credit, he is on the Honor Roll at White Hall High School in White Hall, Arkansas and became a quarterback for the White Hall Bulldogs during his Sophomore year. She groomed her son to not only be a great athlete and scholar, but a respectful young man.
Donna loved fishing and singing. Her favorite artist was Whitney Houston. Although she had a large vocabulary, the word she often used the most was ‘Huh’.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Jasmine Martinez, mother Erma Lee Ice, father Bernard Smith, and brother Terrance Walker.
Donna leaves to cherish her memory her son Matthew Martinez of White Hall, AR; three brothers Roderick Ice and Jimmy Walker, both of Stuttgart, AR and Kenneth Walker of Killeen, TX; one sister Sheila Walker of Stuttgart, AR; aunt Tecumseh Greenlaw of Chicago, IL; uncle Robert Love, Jr. of Altheimer, AR; eleven nephews; ten nieces; twenty-one grand nieces and nephews; and a host of other cousins, relatives, friends, and her special friend Annie Minter of Stuttgart, AR.
