Charles Williams Obituary

Charles Edward Williams was born June 22, 1961, in Pickens, Arkansas to the late Willie Mae Hood and Thelma Williams, Sr. He peacefully transitioned from this life to his eternal home on Monday, March 23, 2020 while in the comfort care at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

He received his education from the McGehee School District and was a 1979 graduate of McGehee High School. Charles worked for W&W Construction for a number of years building government low-income houses. He later worked for Mayflower Food Stores in Stuttgart, Arkansas. His favorite football team was the New Orleans Saints.

Charles accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Chapel Baptist Church under the pastorship of Reverend Harris, then later moved his membership to Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Bobby Brown.

In 1999, Charles moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas and met a friend by the name of Shirley Murry. On July 4, 2013 he made her his wife. To this union, no children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Mae Hood and Thelma Williams, Sr., stepfather Marcus Hood, Sr., one brother Samuel Williams, and one sister Debra Haynes.    

The impact of Charles’ life and legacy will live on as he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Shirley Williams of Stuttgart, AR; one son Torey (Jackie) Williams of Bradenton, FL; one stepdaughter Kesha Murry of Stuttgart, AR; four stepsons Derrick (Candice) Dunlap of Washington, D.C., and Eddie (Shawnte) Murry, Nicholas (Tameko) Murry, Sr., and Brandon Murry, all of Stuttgart, AR; a granddaughter who was raised in the household Dericka Dunlap of Jacksonville, AR; nine brothers Morgan Welcher, Felton Williams, Reverend Leroy (Margaret) Hood, and Dunnell (Bernice) Hood, all of McGehee, AR, Thelma (Pamela) Williams of Wichita, KS, Charlie Hood of Baltimore, MD, Marcus (April) Hood of Arkansas City, Arkansas, Andrea Tillman of Killeen, TX, and Larry (JoAnne) Hood of Waukegan, IL; three sisters Belle (William) Harris of McGehee, AR, Georgette Hood of Pine Bluff, AR, and Shirley (Ralph) Denson of Yeadon, PA; a special sister Amanda (Charles) Pambianchi of McGehee, AR; a special brother Bonnie (Carol) Adcock of Conway, AR; a special niece Jackie Walker of McGehee, AR; a special nephew Roy (Pamela) Freeman of Atlanta, GA; nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to mourn his passing.
