Brother Booker T. Horner, Jr. was born December 26, 1944 in St. Charles, Arkansas to Ester Mae Smith and Booker T. Horner, Sr. He peacefully departed this life on June 3, 2025.
He was a 1964 graduate of Holman High School in Stuttgart, Arkansas. In 1965, he enlisted in the United States Navy, answering the call to serve his country. In addition, he was a faithful Mason, committed to the principles of brotherhood, service, and integrity.
Brother Horner confessed his faith in Christ at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Altheimer, Arkansas, under the leadership of Pastor Brian Dodson. He faithfully attended and truly loved being part of the church community for many years, until his health began to decline. Even then, Brother Horner stayed connected by attending online Bible study every Wednesday. His faith was strong, and church was a meaningful part of his life that brought him joy, peace, and purpose.
Throughout the years, Brother Horner worked at Riceland Foods and Layne Arkansas in Stuttgart. He later retired from Belleville Shoe Factory in DeWitt, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ester Mae Smith and Booker T. Horner, Sr. and stepfather Milton “Bip” Smith; wife Annie Lee Horner; daughter Cynthia Simmons; sister Lillie Williams; brother Jimmy Lee Horner; and son Maurice Dabney and a special friend Georgia Mae Nixon
Brother Horner leaves to cherish his memory his nieces Darlene Timmon, Latricia Ballard, and Andrea Williams, all of Seattle, WA; nephews Larry Williams and Kenneth Dobbs, both of Seattle, WA; great nieces and nephews Deidre Moore, Lashawnda Potts, Amber Ladd (Mychal), Shemika Williams-Berry (Kendrick), Marcelus Kemp (Shanise), Randi Kemp, Kendra Bolden-Anderson (Jason), Phylicia Mitchell, Imani Davis (Chris), and Derrick Dorsey, all of Seattle, WA; son Ryan Watkins of Seattle, WA; Godchildren Stacey Haynes (Jermaine Wiggins) of Stuttgart, AR; great-Goddaughter Kay’Vionna Small of Stuttgart, AR; brother-in-law Josh Williams; special friends Ricky McDowell, Stella Amos, Lillie Cracgett, Hope Watkins McKinley, Tommy Lester, and Reverend C.
