Barbara Mae Blood departed her earthly life and entered eternal life on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She was born on January 21, 1940, to George McFairy and Etta Mae Broady. She attended Holman High School. In October 1955, she married Leo Blood. To this union, ten children were born: Debra, Barbara Ann “Peaches” (deceased), Darlean, Darrell, Donald Ray, Karron “Sue”, Anthony “Lee”, Benita, Harold, and Fred.
She worked for many years at Knoll Cleaners. She also volunteered/worked at the Holman Heritage Community Center for a couple of years. Barbara Mae loved the Lord, and she demonstrated it in her service to Him at Allen Temple Missionary Baptist Church. There she served as a Deaconess and in earlier years, she was a member of the choir ministry. She was also a faithful member of the Pastor’s Aide Ministry for years. Barbara Mae enjoyed life and spending time with family and friends.
Next to her relationship with Jesus, she loved her family with a fervor! Barbara Mae was a beloved wife (until her husband’s death), mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George McFairy Broady and Albert & Etta Mae Donaldson; her beloved husband of 60 years, Leo Blood; her cherished daughter, Barbara Ann “Peaches” Holt; and two precious grandchildren, DeAndre Holt and Kennedy Blood.
Her devoted children will cherish memories of Barbara Mae: Debra (Johnny) Chambers, Darlean Rankins, Darrell (Betty) Blood, Donald (Rena) Blood, Karron “Sue” (Kurl) Billings, all of whom reside in Stuttgart, AR; Anthony “Lee” (Tracy) Blood of Fayetteville, GA; Benita (Roosevelt) Walker of Goodlettsville, TN; Harold (Lisa) Blood of Destrehan, LA; Fred (Aprille) Blood of Prosper, TX; and one step-daughter, Fay Lee Ice (Pine Bluff, AR), who all loved her dearly.
She treasured her siblings: Nancy Lloyd (Stuttgart, AR), Estella Smith (Little Rock, AR), Berl (Pat) Broady (Detroit, MI), Mack (Gloria) Broady (Stuttgart, AR), David Broady (Las Vegas, NV), Walter Lee (Betty aka “Cookie”) Broady (Stockton, CA), Gloria Harvey (Benton, AR), Carolyn Donaldson (Stuttgart, AR), Bonnie Starks (Little Rock, AR), Doris Minter (Desoto, TX), and Lisa Donaldson (Russellville, AR).
Barbara Mae also cherished her 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition, she especially loved the Koonce-Fells Family (her 2nd family), Peggy Mayo (her goddaughter), and faithful friends, Linda Thomas, Eleanor Walker, Flora Alexander, and Shirley Warren.
