Adell Smith, Jr, affectionately known as Uncle June, was born in England, Arkansas to Adell Smith, Sr. and Wilsie Jones Smith on January 19, 1939.
He professed a life for Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater Little Hill Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop A. Allen in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he served faithfully in the church as a deacon, usher, and Sunday school teacher. He returned home to Arkansas and attended Bible Believers House of Faith under the leadership of Elder Steven Reed, where he served as a deacon. He later became a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Fredrick Jeffery, where he served as a faithful deacon.
Uncle June loved to sing at church, and he enjoyed spending time with family. He worked many years at Milwaukee County as a CNA. He loved people and was eager to help anyone he encountered. Uncle June retired at the age of 62 years of age to take care of his grandmother Martha (Mom Mas) Smith, whom he loved dearly until the time of her death. He did a great job, and as his nieces and nephews, we all looked up to him. He was the ‘Boss’ when he came around us. We all loved him, because he would tell it like it was, rather you wanted to hear it or not. Uncle June would always tell you he loved you, and he will be truly missed.
Uncle June departed this life on January 13, 2020. He is preceded in death by his father Adell Smith, Sr., mother Wilsie Jones Smith, four sisters Everlena Slater, Della Mae Reed, Dorothy Whitmore, and Emma Jean Reed, and one brother Willie Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories one brother Clinton (Mary) Smith of Pine Bluff, AR; one great uncle George Smith of St. Louis, MO, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a very special niece Linda Kay (Tim) Batemon of Stuttgart, AR.
