Darlene Allen was born on October 6, 1951 in Roe, AR. She was peacefully called home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
Darlene was born to Prentice and Ruth Thompson of Roe, AR. She was preceded in death by her beloved father Prentice Thompson and brother Tyrone Thompson.
Darlene graduated from G.W. Carver High School, Clarendon, AR in 1969. She attended college at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, AR. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Roe, AR. Darlene was employed at Riceland Food Industries where she retired after 20 years in Stuttgart, AR. She also was a caregiver for many years.
Darlene married Reverend Earnest Allen on April 18, 1998. She served alongside her husband for 20 years at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church of Roe, AR, within the Northeastern District of the State of Arkansas. During her servant years, she became a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Darlene was the Vice President of the Women’s Auxiliary and former Music Assistant Director for the Northeastern District of Arkansas.
Darlene enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and especially her beloved daughter D’Anna Daniels and grandsons Maurice “MJ” Houston, Jr. and Prentice “Malik” Mullins. She loved singing as a member of The Harmonettes of Roe, AR for 31 years. Her greatest joy was serving others in her community and being an inspiration to all.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: husband Reverend Earnest Allen of Stuttgart, AR; her beloved mother Ruth Thompson of Roe, AR; her beloved daughter D’Anna Daniels Gibson of Conway, AR; one son-in-law Marvin Gibson, Jr. of Conway, AR; her grandsons Maurice K. Houston, Jr. and Prentice Malik Mullins of Conway, AR; two sisters Brenda T. Parker of Roe, AR and Claudine T. Simes of West Helena, AR; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and other relatives and friends.
