Fragelia Geans

May 11, 1932 ~ November 25, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old


Fragelia Geans was born in Casscoe, AR to Essex and Myrtle Flowers Gunnell on May 11,1932.  She was the sixth of eight children. Her loving parents, and sisters Ruth, Frankie, Arwilda, Earnice, and brother Thaddeus preceded her in death.  She was baptized at an early age and became a member of Wofford Chapel M.B. Church in Casscoe, AR under the leadership of Rev. F.R. Reems.  She graduated from Immanuel High School in Almyra, AR in 1952. 

Fragelia was united in holy matrimony to Leslie “O.C.” Geans on July 5, 1952 up to his death on March 24, 2009.  To this union four children were born.  Her oldest son Leslie Jr. preceded her in death. She was a military wife for twenty-six years.  She retired from Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Jose, CA. Upon retirement, she returned to Arkansas where she and O.C. established their residence in Stuttgart.  She joined the Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Debra Burton where she served on the Mother Board and the Golden Girls choir.  Fondly known as Mom, Granny, Great-Granny, Fra, Aunt Fra, and Mother Fra; she was loved and or adopted by everyone who knew her. 

Fragelia departed this life on November 25, 2017.  She leaves to cherish her memory her children:  Deara (Leo) Threet and Marlene (Kenneth) Braggs of Little Rock, AR; Martin Geans of Stuttgart, AR; grandchildren: Jason (Russchell ) Geans of Carencro, LA; Maurice (Krystal) Threet, Le’Tisha Threet, and Precious Braggs of Little Rock, AR; Sharese Davis-Bones of Stuttgart, AR, and Markus Geans of San Jose, CA;  great-grandchildren:  Ja’Veon Rounds, Jordyn Threet, Kaily Threet, Kristin Threet, Matthew Threet and Eternity Straughn  of Little Rock, AR;  Tyler Geans and Aubree Geans of Carencro, LA; La’Passion Warren of Las Vegas, NV and Carmello Geans of Modesto, CA;  two sisters:  Janie Lyles and Shirley (Jessie) Jones of Chicago, IL; very dear friend Val Tolbert of Detroit, MI; brother in-law Waymon (Angelia) Geans, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; sister in-law Ada Jeffrey of Stuttgart, AR;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
